Arthritis Research Canada is a national leader in clinical arthritis research. We turn evidence into better care and better lives.
Arthritis is one of the
most serious health challenges in Canada. It affects more than 6 million
Canadians, more than heart disease, diabetes, cancer, stroke, and dementia
combined. It limits movement, disrupts work, and changes lives. It is the
number one cause of disability in Canada.
And yet, it receives only 2% of available research funding. That gap is exactly
why Arthritis Research Canada exists.
As North America’s largest clinical arthritis research centre, we conduct
world-class, patient-centred research that improves how arthritis and rheumatic
diseases are prevented, treated, and lived with. We conduct research that
changes how arthritis care is delivered across Canada and how people live with
their disease.
Two Weeks of Real Impact
For two weeks, you commit to a total of 30
minutes of movement each day, 5 days a week, while raising funds that power
arthritis research. The MOVE Challenge is about moving in a way that is
meaningful for you. For some people, 30 minutes of movement is a meaningful
challenge. For others, the challenge may be going beyond their usual routine.

Here’s How It Works:
- Sept 16–30, 2026
- A total of 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week
- Register and raise a minimum of $100
This event is Arthritis Research Canada’s
first virtual movement and fundraising challenge. It is open to everyone and
flexible for everybody.
Managing a flare? Adapt your movement to what feels safe and achievable.
Already active? Consider increasing your duration, intensity, distance, or
trying something new.
Every step you take improves your own well-being. Every dollar you raise helps
people living with arthritis and rheumatic diseases across Canada live better
and move more.

Love what you’re doing, my sister has had rheumatoid arthritis since she was 12. My mother had it for most of her life and lived incredible pain day in and day out. She had a total of 13 surgeries to either remove bones or try to straighten them through her last nine years of her life. It’s an awful disease and definitely does not get the attention deserves. Thank you for doing what you’re doing.
