Why I’m Moving for Arthritis Research
For me, this cause is personal.
It started with my older sister. For years, she lived with excruciating pain in her foot before finally being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. Years of pain, uncertainty and not having the answers she needed.
Then it happened to my oldest son. What we thought was a sore ankle that just wouldn't go away turned out to be arthritis.
And there are so many others I know who are impacted by this disease.
Arthritis may not be terminal, but it can be incredibly painful, debilitating and life-altering. It affects the ability to work, sleep, exercise and simply enjoy life. And more than 6 million Canadians are living with arthritis and other rheumatic diseases.
That's why I'm doing the MOVE with Arthritis Research challenge.
I'm lucky to be someone who loves to move, especially in my 50s, and I don't take that ability for granted. I’m moving because I want better treatments, better quality of life and a brighter future for my sister, my son and the millions of Canadians living with these diseases.
That's my why. ❤️

Love what you’re doing, my sister has had rheumatoid arthritis since she was 12. My mother had it for most of her life and lived incredible pain day in and day out. She had a total of 13 surgeries to either remove bones or try to straighten them through her last nine years of her life. It’s an awful disease and definitely does not get the attention deserves. Thank you for doing what you’re doing.
