I'm fundraising for...
I’m fundraising for arthritis research because arthritis affects over 6 million people in Canada. It is often an invisible disease that impacts daily life in ways many don’t see.
I’m taking part in the MOVE with Arthritis Research challenge by committing to a total of 30 minutes of movement, 5 days a week. Every dollar raised will support life-changing arthritis research.
Thank you for supporting me and helping fund research that makes a difference.

Why I MOVE
Tuesday 23rd Jun What comes to mind when you think of someone living with arthritis?I know what I thought: it was an image of an older person struggling with joint pain. I thought arthritis was inevitable, and it was something we'd all face when we aged.
The past several months working at Arthritis Research Canada have shattered any preconceived notions I had of the disease.
I've met people of all ages who are living with arthritis, some who were even diagnosed as children. They're my colleagues, members of our Arthritis Patient Advisory Board, or people who reached out to share their story.
There are so many stories and experiences, but there are common threads: arthritis is debilitating and often invisible. It is a disease that does not discriminate by age, gender, or background. As a communicator, I've been inspired, honoured, and deeply moved to be trusted to share these stories.
But I'm also grateful that so much of my work involves sharing hope in the form of the research being done to improve the lives of people living with arthritis.
Arthritis Research Canada has an ongoing study that explores how living with an autoimmune rheumatic disease affects the mental health of new parents. There's another project that aims to improve health equity for Indigenous Peoples with arthritis, with patient-centered care strategies informed by Indigenous communities. My pun-loving self loves that we are working to develop a chatbot called ChatRheum, which will be able to answer rheumatology-related questions.
Those are only 3 of over 200 studies that impact the lives of people living with this disease. But arthritis affects more Canadians than cancer, heart disease, and diabetes combined, yet receives only 2% of research funding.
So this September, we're launching a national, virtual fundraising challenge. For two weeks, participants will commit to moving for a total of 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week, to raise funds and awareness for arthritis research.
